WHY I CHOSE PILATES?
2007 was the last year I worked a desk job. As an office manager for a dental office in Midtown Manhattan, I spent hours seated and started to experience sciatica symptoms as well as lower back pain. I knew the lack of movement was partly causing the discomfort, so I decided to do two things: quit my job and find a new one where movement was involved. It was kind of serendipity that I chose Pilates. While searching for employment, I came across an advertisement for Pilates instructor certification. I'd never taken a Pilates class, but after doing some research and being interviewed by the course instructor, it seemed like the best move for me. While completing the certification and thanks to the vast opportunity of practice hours required, my aches and pains began to disappear shortly thereafter. Within lessons, I experienced the benefits of this fitness regimen. I was healed. I was a believer. I became addicted. And now, I get to teach knowing that you will also benefit greatly.
